Tell us about your role here at Lotus:
I am one of the Production Managers and a lead designer at Lotus. I’ve been designing here since 2014. I dabble in a little bit of everything at Lotus though! I help fulfill orders, order supplies, play with Piper, drop F bombs, make sure Dave Matthews Band doesn’t come on the radio. But you can find me on the bench most days.
What inspires you as a designer?
I’ve always been influenced by other cultures...whether it’s art, textile patterns, religion, folklore, etc. My mom’s father is from Arequipa, Peru. I love to use my Inca heritage in my designs. Most of my design influence comes from both my parents. My mom studied geology and my dad studied anthropology with a focus on African cultures. Both are well traveled and collected all sorts of artifacts from their trips. People joke that their house looks like a museum. My mom has an extensive jewelry collection, most is Native American and Southwestern. I’ve always been drawn to those styles and also use them in my design process.
What are some fun facts about yourself that you would love for people to know about you?
I originally went to school for archeology-a dream of mine since I was 5. After 2 years, I took an art class for fun and ended up switching to jewelry and metalsmithing. I struggled with jewelry and switched my degree again. Ultimately I got my degree in ceramics. So I guess you could say that I’m a jewelry school dropout. I’m a nature lover and love being outdoors. I love any form of living thing...bugs, animals, plants, you name it. I have at least 100+ plants inside of my home. I also have at least 20 skulls. Speaking of skulls, Halloween is my day to shine. It’s my favorite holiday and I leave up some Halloween decor all year round. I even had a Hallo-wedding in 2018. It was a full on costume wedding...best day ever!
